Shawn Parker serves the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians as its Senior Vice-President and General Counsel. As part of the Executive team, he manages a wide range of responsibilities to support the legal and administrative operations of the NCAFP and NCAFP Foundation as well as provides governance, legal, and strategic guidance to these organizations.
Mr. Parker has an extensive background in health care law and government regulation advising healthcare organizations and individual physician practices on the business of medicine, as well as providing counsel regarding governance and policy to health care professional associations and health care related non-profit organizations. Additionally, he has worked as an analyst and attorney with the North Carolina General Assembly and has extensive experience in public policy development and analysis, the legislative process, and legislative drafting. Mr. Parker is a former public member of the North Carolina Medical Board and currently serves as Treasurer to the Federation of State Medical Boards.
